Privacy Notice
Last updated: July 8, 2026
This Privacy Notice explains how Horizon Daily Planner ("Horizon", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares personal data when you use the Horizon application and website (the "Service"). Horizon Daily Planner is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service.
1. Personal data we collect
- Account data: name, email, hashed password, authentication identifiers.
- Content you create: tasks, notes, calendar entries, habits, goals, expenses, focus sessions, uploaded files.
- Usage and device data: IP address, browser and device type, log timestamps, pages viewed, feature interactions.
- Support data: messages you send us and their metadata.
- Payment metadata: subscription and purchase status, transaction identifiers received from Paddle. Card and billing details are collected and stored by Paddle, not by us.
2. How and why we use your data
- Create and secure your account — performance of a contract.
- Provide, personalise and improve the Service — performance of a contract and legitimate interests.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents — legitimate interests, legal obligation.
- Respond to support requests — performance of a contract.
- Send service and transactional emails — performance of a contract.
- Send marketing emails where you have opted in — consent (you may withdraw at any time).
- Comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations — legal obligation.
3. Who we share data with
- Service providers / subprocessors that host, secure, and operate the Service (cloud hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, analytics, error monitoring, customer support tooling).
- Paddle.com Market Ltd, our Merchant of Record, which handles all payment processing, subscription management, invoicing, refunds, chargebacks and sales tax. Paddle acts as an independent data controller for payment data. See Paddle's Privacy Notice.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
- Government authorities where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. International transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, including the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, or equivalent safeguards.
5. Retention
We keep account and content data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it (for example, transaction records for tax purposes, which Paddle retains as Merchant of Record).
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, to portability, and to withdraw consent. You may exercise these rights by emailing us (see below). If you are in the UK or EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We respond to verified requests within one month.
7. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and role-separated database policies — to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
8. Cookies and local storage
Horizon uses only strictly necessary cookies and browser storage. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar.
- Authentication cookies / local storage — set by our authentication provider to keep you signed in and to protect your session against tampering.
- Consent preference — a single
localStorageentry that remembers you have seen the cookie notice so we don't show it again. - Offline cache — an in-browser IndexedDB store that caches your own data (tasks, notes, etc.) locally so the app works offline. This never leaves your device.
- Payments — when you open checkout, Paddle (our Merchant of Record) may set its own cookies on its checkout domain to process the payment and prevent fraud. See Paddle's cookie notice.
Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, no consent is required to use the Service. You can still clear cookies and local storage at any time from your browser settings — doing so will sign you out and clear the offline cache.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
11. Contact
Horizon Daily Planner — questions about this notice or your data can be sent through the in-app support option, or by contacting Paddle for anything related to your purchase at paddle.net.
